- UltraTech set to become world''s 9th largest cement firm
Mumbai, July 29 (PTI) UltraTech Cement today said with
the merger of Samruddhi and acquisition of ETA Star Cement,
its manufacturing capacity will touch 52 million tonnes per
annum (MTPA) making it the ninth largest cement firm in the
world.
- Bata clocks a healthy 40 pc growth in profit in June qtr
Mumbai, July 29 (PTI) India's largest footwear-maker Bata
posted a healthy 40 per cent rise in its net profit during the
quarter ended June 30, at Rs 25.90 crore, up from the Rs 18.34
crore in the corresponding period last year.

New Delhi, July 29 (PTI) Germany-based Siemens AG's arm
Siemens India today posted over 50 per cent decline in its net
profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2010 at Rs 156.12 crore.
- Centre, states to share funds at 65:35 ratio for RTE
New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) Ending the controversy over sharing
of funds and paving the way for implementing the historic
Right To Education (RTE) law, the government has fixed the
funds sharing pattern at 65 to 35 between the Centre and the
states for the next five years.

its judgment over a petition of the Competition Commission
of India (CCI) alleging that its appellate body, Competition
Appellate Tribunal (COMPAT), was overstepping its power by
staying an investigation directed by it.
- Night train movement suspension extended in WB, Jharkhand
New Delhi, July 29 (PTI) Not satisfied with the
prevailing situation in the Naxal-hit areas in the eastern
region, the Railways have decided to extend suspension of
night movement of trains in parts of West Bengal and Jharkhand
till August 3.

Infratech today said it has bagged a contract from Maharashtra
State Power Generation Company for supplying equipment for the
company's power plant at Nagpur in Maharashtra.
- ONGC June qtr net drops 24% to Rs 3,661.14 cr on fuel subsidy
New Delhi, July 29 (PTI) State-owned Oil and Natural Gas
Corp (ONGC) today reported a 24.5 per cent decline in its net
profit at Rs 3,661.14 crore for the quarter ended June 30, as
its fuel subsidy payout jumped nearly 12-folds.
